How to get involved in Sydney and listen to young emerging talent at the same time?
Sydneysider Angelena Locke can always be found at venues across Sydney on weekends, probably singing a cheeky Ed Sheeran song or another. She’s blazed her sweet smile and vocals through a variety of venues, festivals and competitions including the Telstra Road to Discovery, Sydney Royal Easter Show and Granny Smith Festival. She’s been writing, recording and making music since she was fifteen and she’s exactly the kind of young musician that’s making an impact in Sydney with her vocals and through the causes she champions.
Do an Ange and join her.
She’ll be playing at Busk for a Cure to show support – What is it? Well, Helmut Uhlmann founded Busk for a Cure in July 2014 as a way of combining his love of music and entrepreneurship with a cause that was embedded deep within his heart. After battling cancer for ten years, Helmut’s mother passed away from metastasised endometrial cancer in August 2015. The struggle his family went through resonates with countless Australians who have encountered the tragedy of cancer either directly or indirectly.
So, this year, on May 27, Newtown is being taken over by artists for Busk for a Cure, who are raising money for the Cancer Council and Crohn’s & Colitis Australia.
*INFO: May 27 2017, 10am- 7pm, @ main area within Newtown Markets
Last year, 50 artists performing across 5 locations in Newtown raised just over $3000. Join the rest of Sydney as an everyday Australian who’s looking to contribute to the fight against cancer in a fun way!
Come out and listen to local talent and support Busk for a Cure – they give 100% of donations straight to charity and the volunteers like Angelena are making this happen.
