It’s always Gin O’Clock at Gin Lane in Chippendale’s Kensington Street precinct! Set in an 18th Century Town House, Gin Lane brings a slice of 1750’s London to Sydney. Serving 75 varieties of hand selected gin in cocktails, straight up or mixed with your favourite tonic, Gin Lane has a Gin to excite every taste bud.

Award-winning mixologist Grant Collins has brought his international love of gin to Sydney. Yippy! With over 25 exciting cocktails on the menu from sweet to sour to floral and everything in between including larger cocktails to share it is definitely a tricky task deciding what to order.

Sydney Social 101 recently popped in to try out some of Gin Lane’s signature cocktails. We started with Blue Magic which is a mix of Tanquery Gin, blue magic and lavender syrup, Indonesian spice and topped with fever tree tonic. It was spicy and refreshing with a delicious hint of citrus. This summery cocktail was definitely a favourite and it went down a little too easily. Next we tried the Hibiscus and Rose Fizz which is the must-try cocktail for those with a sweet tooth and those who need that perfect insta shot. Served in an eye catching glass this cocktail is a concoction of rose infused gin-hibiscus, orange, rose syrup, pressed organic raspberry and prosecco served smoking… Get your camera phones ready!

We then decided to indulge in one of the sharing cocktails which serves 2-3 people (which was perfect for two people like us who drink for three). We ordered the aromatic and citrusy Smoking Teapot which was absolutely perfect to finish the evening with. Earl grey gin, earl grey bitters, pressed lemon, earl grey tea and prosecco was blended in a teapot and ready to pour into two pretty tea cups. This cocktail might actually turn me into a Teetotaler (just so long as the tea has gin in it!)

Gin is the heart and soul of Gin Lane however if you get ginned-out (I don’t even know if there is such a thing) you can still order a rum, tequila, vodka, other brews and wines.

If all of the Gin drinking is makes you a little hungry Gin Lane also has a delicious grazing menu to keep you going. The food menu includes truffle fries, warm mixed nuts, chilli olives, and a selection of cheeses and cold meats served with crackers and dates.
