I have to be honest when I say that normally Kookai hasn’t been my number one fashion choice. As a curvy lady, the form fitting fashion fell just short of the mark for me personally. I would admire my slim girlfriends in awe as they pulled off the styles with ease, gutted in the knowledge that the pieces would never look like that on me.
It can be said that when Sydney Social 101 attended the Kookai Runway Show for Media and VIPs on August 20, 2014 at Carriageworks in Sydney, I wasn’t sure what to expect.
I can safely say without hesitation that I was absolutely blown away and subsequently wanted every piece from the collection! key trends centered around tulip, A line waist, structured pieces with form fitting tailoring – that was pleasantly forgiving for the curvier girls! Tailor jumpsuits and nautical stripes shone from the French riviera inspired backdrop, along with flashes of emerald green to keep your eyes on the show.
The show saw 23 models including Alexandra Aogston, Nicole Trunfio and Nicole Pollard take to the catwalk to showcase 70 looks from the new Spring/Summer Collection. Here is a snapshot of the stand out looks from Sydney Social 101.
Guests including Anna Heinrich, Laura Dundovic, Terry Biviano and Laura Csortan arrived by sponsored vehicles from Porshe and sipped on Nakd Water and Coco Vodka throughout the evening.
This season Kookai shot their SS14/15 Campaign ‘Tropeziens’ in St Tropez with the help of Australian models Elyse Taylor, Alexandra Agoston and Pania Rose. Photographer Emmanuelle Hauguel captured the colours and European Summer scenery organically through the iconic South of France culture and landscape.
Tropeziens sees the iconic brand go back to their original French roots, working this season in classic styles, longer ladylike hemlines and nautical touches. With highlight prints of Bahama sunset tone Palms and Coloured Stripes, Kookai creates a summer uniform suitable for all Australian women.
