Vans, the original action sports brand rooted in art, music and street culture, is bringing a pop-up House of Vans event to Sydney. The one-day, pop up event will be held at The Commune, Waterloo on Saturday 2nd February, 2019.
House of Vans showcases Vans’ unique culture through multifaceted activations including D.I.Y workshops, indoor skate park & mini ramp, street markets, live art, Vans Skate and BMX team teams, curated musical performances, plus much more.
House of Vans guests can skate at the custom-built indoor skate park and mini ramp with skateboarding legend Tony Alva, watch Vans films in the cinema or join workshops running throughout the day. Workshops include skate classes from Rock N Slide Skateboarding, upcycle skate deck workshops with artist and maker Callum Preston and grip tape design workshops with Jimmy Roche. Workshop spots are limited with online registration essential.
Celebrating creative self-expression, visitors to House of Vans will have the chance to bring their own Vans sneaker design to life or customise merchandise in collaboration with local artists. They can also browse the pop-up street market including barber cuts from Uppercut Deluxe, band merchandise from Artist First, vinyl from Repressed Records, Sydney-based artist stalls and pop-up surf, skate and BMX shops by Lucky Surf & Supply, Kingpin and Backbone BMX.
House of Vans will culminate with evening sets from some of Australia’s finest punk rock bands The Chats, West Thebarton, Pist Idiots and Totty.
