Celebrating its sixth year, Pyrmont Festival returns in 2016 with a giant 10-day program to showcase the best of the Mudgee Region and Pyrmont.
This weekend sees the festival open Pirrama Park on Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 May. An event designed for the whole family, with live music, local and Mudgee region artists showcasing renowned Mudgee Sculptures, rides and children’s entertainment and approximately 100 stalls where guests can meet wine-makers, participate in tastings and sample a broad range of fine foods. Le Jardin By Perrier Jouet @ The Winery
Sydney art design duo, Lyn Balzar and Tony Perkins, will reveal art pieces from their collections and a bespoke conceptual art sculpture commissioned for the space in our favourite Surry Hills.
The piece draws its inspiration from the Japanese Anemone that has graced the famed Perrier-Jouët Belle Époque bottle since 1902 when Emile Gallé, one of the Art Nouveau movement’s most celebrated artists, designed the swirl of anemones wreathed in gold. Perrier-Jouët is encouraging
Sydney-siders to visit Le Jardin at The Winery during the 14th-15th May to experience a unique art theatre and enjoy a glass of champagne with artists Lyn and Tony, who will be available at 2PM on Saturday for a Q&A session.
Pacha Sydney at ivy
Trance Nation returns to the truly unique club night, Pacha Sydney, on Saturday 14 featuring Melbourne-based producer and DJ, Exis. Known for his big melodies and killer drops, Exis has become a lead force in the trance music scene with tracks such as ‘The Ensemble’ reaching cult status. Along with the usual choreographed performances by some of Australia’s best dancers, awe-inspiring installations, mind-blowing light shows, pyrotechnics, burlesque, roving artists and physical theatre acts this is a night sure to thrill!

They’ll be dedicating four of these taps to showcase their new limited edition range of dark ales – the Black Box Edition.There’s only three sets of Black Box kegs being released to NSW venues, so the 4 Pines tap takeover at the Keg & Brew is a rare event for the hop-heads of Sydney.
As well as the four Black Box brews, eight of 4 Pines’ core beers are also tapped and on offer for the night. Punters can get a chance to try free samples between 6-7pm and have a chin wag with the man behind it all, 4 Pines Brewer Andrew “Tweeds” Tweddel.
A specially tailored menu has also been created, with a meal suggestion to complement some of the beers on tap, including:
Braised Venison Chocolate Pie ($12.50), try it with the Coffee Porter, Russian Imperial Stout, the Black IPA or the Shwarzbier;
Chicken Mole Aranchini with coriander and lime mayonnaise ($12 for 3 pieces) would be paired well with the Pale Ale, American Amber or the Fresh in Season IPA;
and finally, Duck Rillet with cherry mustard, cornichons and toast ($12.50) with the Kolsch, Hefe, ISPA or the ESB.
As the days get shorter and the air more chilled, it’s a wonderful time of beer to head indoors and warm yourself with a nice dark brew.
