The Galeries is a keen benefactor of emerging Sydney artists and this July will see the precinct take its commitment to an alternate reality. From now until August 12th The Galeries will become a centre for both technology and art in their latest augmented reality game Layers.
A dedicated laneway in The Galeries will showcase the latest augmented art works from artists Antra, Georgia Hill and We Buy Your Kids. Customers are encouraged to download the specialised Layers app allowing for a unique, gamified art experience, challenging the idea of a traditional art showcase – a one of a kind gallery in The Galeries.
Each of the 12 artworks contains hidden layers that can only be revealed through the unique app. Select the right colour filter to reveal the image and earn points that are automatically added to your tally. There are 200 points to earn, for any shoppers struggling to reach the maximum points there are 60 bonus points to be earned with any purchase of $100 or more in specialty fashion stores at The Galeries.
Each player will be working towards the major prize – perfect for the modern art lover. By redeeming their points each individual will enter the draw to win a trip for two to the Museum of Old and New Art (MONA) in Hobart, Tasmania. The major prize includes flights, transfers, accommodation and entry to the Australian home of modern art. Players also have the chance to win instant minor prizes including vouchers for Lotus Dining, discounts at Books Kinokuniya as well as offers from Alpha 60, GentSac and many more.
An augmented reality art gallery showcases The Galeries ongoing support and development of the local artistic community by finding new ways to engage audiences. Taking its customers through new and exciting technology innovation sees The Galeries reaching new heights of customer experience as its mission to disrupt traditional retail continues to surpass all expectations.
